A Look at What We Believe...

About the Bible

We believe that the sixty-six books comprising the Old and New Testaments are the written word of God, fully inspired and without error in their original autographs. (Romans 10: 17; 2 Timothy 3: 16; 2 Peter 1:21; Hebrews 4:12)

About the Godhead

We believe that there is one true and living God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that these are equal in every divine perfection and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption. (Genesis 1:1-3, 26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 John 5:7; 1 Peter 1:2)

About Man

We believe that man was created by God and in the image of God. We believe man fell from his original state through his disobedience.  We believe all people are descendants of Adam and have inherited a sin nature and are sinners both by nature and choice. Man is separated from God in both relationship and fellowship. We believe that the sin nature is so pervasive that man has no ability to do any good in and of himself. (Genesis 1:26, 27, 31; Genesis 2:7; Genesis 3:6-7; Romans 3:10-23; Romans 5:12-19)

About Salvation

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of God through His grace. This salvation is wrought through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as a sacrificial offering for the sin nature and sins of believers. (Ephesians 1:4-10, 13-14; Ephesians 2:4-7, 8-9; John 1:12-13; John 3:18-19; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 1:4-10)

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is fully God yet fully man in the ineffable mystery, that He has existed from eternity past as God’s only Son, that He was conceived in human form by the Holy Spirit, was born of the virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life performing miracles and teaching. We believe that in submission to His Father and in love for His own, He freely gave His perfect life in substitutionary atonement, shedding His blood and rising from the grave to ascend to His Father where He sits in mediation for His people. We believe that He will come again in great power and glory to defeat all of His enemies, including Satan and his minions, and He will put an end to sin and death and reign victoriously forever and ever. (John 1:1-5, 9-14, 18; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Galatians 4:4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Mark 15; Luke 24; Acts 1:9-11; Titus 2:13; 1 John 1:1-3; 1 John 5: 9-10; Colossians 1: 15-18; Revelation 5:13-14, Revelation 14:10, Revelation 17:14, Revelation 19:16, Revelation 20:10)

About Sanctification

We believe that the regenerated believer does not lose the sin nature at the time of salvation but, in regeneration, receives the indwelling of the Holy Spirit Who guides the believer into righteousness. (John 16:13; Romans 8:29-30; Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 4:16-18)

About Ordinances (Means of Grace)

Christ committed two ordinances to the local church which attest to a believer's profession of faith. These are baptism and the Lord's Supper. Neither ordinance contributes to or is necessary for salvation. Both are gifts that imbue the believer with a renewed appreciation for God's grace. (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 22:14-22; Acts 8:26-39; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29; Colossians 2:12)

About Future Events/Judgment/Eternity

We believe the "last days" began with the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Jesus ascended into heaven and is at the right hand of the Father. Jesus will return in power and great glory. At his appearance, the dead will be raised to life. When the resurrection occurs and souls and bodies are reunited, Satan and his followers will be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire to suffer eternal torment, and a new heaven and a new earth will emerge. All true believers' names are found in the Lamb's Book of Life and will enter their final destiny of living eternally in God's presence in glory. Unbelievers whose names are not found in the Lamb's Book of Life will be cast into the Lake of Fire, tormented, and separated from God throughout eternity. (Matthew 26:64; Luke 1:33; John 1:14, 5:28-29; Ephesians 1:13-20; Revelation 11:15-18; Revelation 20:12-15, 21; Revelation 22:12-13; Matthew 10:32; Luke 16:19-26, Luke 23:43; John 11:25-26; 2 Thessalonians 1: 6-10; Revelation 3:5; Revelation 20:7-15, Revelation 21:1-7)

About Marriage

The term "marriage" refers specifically to the joining of one man and one woman in a binding and exclusive union, instituted by God for His glory. Any sexual intimacy outside the bounds of marriage or between persons of the same sex is a perversion of God's will and intention. (Genesis 2:18-25; 1 Corinthians 6:18, 1 Corinthians 7:2-5; Ephesians 5:22-33; Hebrews 13:4)
